I am 16 years old with brown hair and hazel eyes
and I’m 6’2” tall. Even though I grew up with a physical
condition which causes me to be in pain to one degree or the other most
of the time, I have always been strong and otherwise healthy both in
mind and body. I am determined not to let my condition stop me from
pursuing careers in music and teaching. I have been fortunate enough
to be able to study hard and earn credits toward my teaching credentials
by tutoring students in various subjects. I am also lucky enough to
be able to work at my favorite motorcycle dealership. Not even my physical
condition could get in the way of that. I know my guardian, Steve, worries
about me but the fact is that I know my condition will take my life
one day. The doctors told us that on more than one occasion. I simply
want to live my life to its fullest while I’m able.

My guardian, Steve is in his mid 30’s with black hair
and green eyes. He’s 5’11” tall. He started caring
for me when I was two weeks old after my parents went on a business
trip. They never returned. Steve said that until I came in to his life,
he was only married to his work, teaching history at the local high
school. He had been friends with my parents for years. They were neighbors
and when my parents got called out of town on a business trip, Steve
stepped right up and offered to care for me until they returned. The
trip was to only last a week and Steve said he had wanted to care for
me anyway to give my parents a break. When my parents didn’t return,
Steve was awarded official guardianship. Steve doesn’t see me
as a burden or a chore that was taken on to help a neighbor; he sees
me as a son. He is lean, strong, and appears happy most of the time.
But deep inside, I know Steve worries for me. He knows that my medical
condition will take my life one day and he does his best to make sure
that I have everything I need to be as happy and comfortable as possible.
